How To Earn Passive Income With Your Internet Hotspot At Home

I always believe in a win-win business model and when I was introduced to the Helium Network in my podcast interview with Peter from Emrit. I am convinced to give it a try. Little have I known how easy it is for every person to be part of the global IoT with a small device at home.

Everyone around the world can order a free hotspot device from Emrit.io. They will ship you the device for free in exchange for 80% of your earnings to support their operational expenses. The other 20% will be your passive income. You just need to connect the hotspot box to your internet at home and then you provide internet to a global IoT Network. What do you get from providing your internet? Helium tokens.

Helium Network

Helium Network is the world’s first peer-to-peer wireless network, founded in 2013 with the mission to make it easier to build connected devices. Unlike Bitcoin using proof-of-work, Helium networks use proof-of-coverage. It uses radio waves to validate Hotspots that are providing legitimate wireless coverage. By validating the transaction, Hotspot can earn Helium tokens (HNT), and new blocks are added to the blockchain. It is the same logic as other blockchain networks just that Helium uses proof-of coverage instead of the better-known ones such as proof-of-work, proof-of-stake, and so on.

Since the location of the hotspot is unique and immutable, the helium blockchain can transaction data with high security and sensor-resistant. As an individual, you don’t have to worry that the helium network would know your personal data. As the IoT network user, you don’t have to worry about your data security during transmission, thanks to the advantages of blockchain technology.

Till now, there are 15,692 people or hotspot devices around the world that are part of the network.

Earn Helium tokens

As explained above, providing your internet to the global IoT network and the hotspot can validate transactions. So the hotspot is rewarded by helium tokens. Each person has a unique device identification, and you can see your earnings and device information from your account dashboard on Emrit.io.

You might have heard of bitcoin miners. Bitcoin miners validate transactions on bitcoin and rewarded with bitcoin. And you have a hotspot device at home, it serves as a ‘mining’ machine for you. You can directly mine helium tokens yourself at home by ordering their RAK Hotspot Miner which costs $299. In that way, you earn 100% rewards.

If you don’t want to invest so much, and it might take a long time to break even, you can order a free hotspot device which is provided by the Emrit team. You can order your device by clicking the button below.

Step 1: Register an account on Emrit.io and put in your name and home address. So the Emrit team knows to whom and where they should send the package. Later you can see all the statistics on your dashboard.

Step 2: Installation. Once you receive your box, you can follow the instruction to set it up. It will take you about 5mins or less. And then go to Emrit.io to create a helium wallet address.

When it is set up, you will see the green light and find your device on the network explorer map.

Step 3: Earning HNT. The more devices around you within 2 miles range, the more powerful it will be. When your device validates transactions, then you will receive HNT in your wallet which you have given the information on the Emrit website. When you join, you also have a personal affiliated link which you can invite friends or families that you earn 5% commission in the first year. If don’t use it, you can still earn HNT.

Total cost

Cost of device: $0

Cost of shipping: $0

Cost of electricity: 5watt per hour. In our case, it is about $10 per year.

I always find it exciting to try out new technologies and devices. For now, it did not take me any effort to order, set up, and run. The current Helium token price is at $1.7, if I earn 6 tokens, I am break even with electricity cost. But this cost is so trivia that I won’t even think of it. If more and more people join the network and Helium can power IoT devices, this can even be a quite useful IoT infrastructure to run all kinds of SaaS or services. I am looking forward to the future of it.
